In the 50th Daytime Emmys Awards 2023 “General Hospital” wrapped up the night on a high note, snagging the Outstanding Drama Series award. What a fantastic way to close out the evening!

Executive producer Frank Valentini said, “This truly is a special night, and I’m feeling very grateful and a little bit nervous.” “We want to dedicate this to Sonya Eddy and Ingo Rademacher. We love you.”

Eddy nailed it! She snagged the Supporting Actress honor for her incredible 16-year stint as the no-nonsense Head Nurse Epiphany Johnson on the beloved ABC soap. Kudos to her well-deserved recognition! She passed away in December 2022 at the age of 55 after complications from surgery.

In March, Garland, who worked on “General Hospital” for 22 years as a producer before her death from a heart attack at the age of 49, was remembered.

Robert Gossett, who portrayed Marshall Ashford on “General Hospital,” claimed the Supporting Actor trophy. He had won in the Guest Performer category last year for the same role.

Eden McCoy won the award for Outstanding Younger Performer for her role as Josslyn Jacks. The 20-year-old actor made his debut on “General Hospital” in 2015. His mother, Natasha McCoy, passed away from cancer in November.

McCoy poured her heart out, saying, “This one’s for my mom, and it’s all because of her.” Such a heartfelt tribute, showing love and gratitude. “It’s no secret to me how big a privilege it is to be able to do something, not just because I like doing it, but because I like doing what I do for a living, and I’m grateful for it every day. Being grateful on nights like these is really easy, but I am grateful every day.”

Eileen Davidson, known for lighting up the screen as Ashley Abbott in “The Young and the Restless,” clinched an award for her standout guest performance in a drama for her role in a day’s play. She truly brought magic to the screen! The 72-year-old actress started portraying Heather Webber on “General Hospital” when the character was brought back last year.

Her husband, actor Orson Bean, died in 2020 when he was hit by two cars while crossing a street in Venice, Los Angeles.

Mills opened up, saying, “I recently lost my dear husband, and it was incredibly heartbreaking. Then, I was asked to step into the shoes of a deeply troubled character, someone who might take lives but has a heart of gold.” Life certainly has its twists and turns, doesn’t it?” “And he keeps moving towards the light all the time, and it has given me the ability to move forward and move towards the light. The world has become so bad at this time that all I can say to all the suffering people is to just keep moving towards the light.”

Persistence and talent truly pay off!

As Sherri Shepherd announced, “The streak is over!” When presenting her with the trophy, she came back to give her introduction.

Before welcoming Lucci to the stage, Moore said, “She’s the leading lady of daytime.”

The 50th daytime emmys awards annual celebration honoring talk shows and soap operas is the first major awards show to return after the Hollywood writers and actors strike ended. It got pushed back from its originally scheduled date in June.

To celebrate the golden anniversary of the 50th daytime emmys awards awards, a previous winner in a category was paired as a presenter with a winner from many years ago. The attendees were seated at tables spread across the ballroom of the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles.
